Pre-Medical and Health Professions

Through Bryant’s Pre-Medical and Health Professions advisory program, you’ll work closely with a pre-health advisor who can help you with course selection and schedules, find the right experiential learning opportunities, and guide you through the application process for medical school or other graduate programs in healthcare or the health sciences. Your pre-health advisor will also help you select the best major based on your future goals. Common examples include biology (pre-health track) for medical or dental school, exercise and movement science (healthcare provider prep track) for physical therapy, and health sciences for a variety of other healthcare careers.

Our personalized, high-quality mentorship leads to many Bryant students going to top graduate and pre-professional schools. Through the advisory program, you will:

• Participate in Bryant’s healthcare mentor match program and connect with faculty who have expertise in the industry areas that most interest you.
   
• Receive one-on-one mentoring and guidance from your pre-health advisor to design your academic path to meet your career goals.
   
• Engage in hands-on learning opportunities, such as research, fellowships, internships, and clinical experience, to set you apart as you apply to graduate school.
   
• Receive access to high-tech laboratory equipment, including a scanning electron microscope, rotary microtome, fully equipped molecular geochemistry lab, and more, starting your very first year — something that’s usually reserved for graduate students at larger institutions. 

At Bryant, you’ll engage in plenty of experiential learning opportunities that will differentiate you from your peers as apply to graduate school:

• Volunteer in a nearby hospital or healthcare clinic and gain hands-on clinical experience.
• Take an EMT course for credit and start accruing critical direct patient care contact hours as early as your first year.
• Engage with scientists during a 10-week paid summer fellowship funded by the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, or NASA.
• Participate in the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF).
• Collaborate with faculty members on an independent research project or as a research assistant in one of Bryant’s many laboratories.
• Present your research at regional and national conferences.

Bryant’s Physician Assistant Studies program grants guaranteed interviews to Bryant undergraduate students who meet the admissions criteria. PA programs include competitive and rigorous requirements, but with the support of a pre-health advisor, you’ll be well-positioned with the courses and experience you need to pursue your MSPAS degree. Pending a successful interview, two seats per year are reserved for qualified Bryant undergraduates to the PA program.
