Why Bryant?

I chose Bryant because of its location in New England, Division I athletics, wide scope of major and minor programs, small student population, high graduation rate, and low faculty-to-student ratio. All of these statistics were really important to me when deciding where to go to college!

Did you always know you wanted a double major in history and LCS?

Just the opposite! I came to Bryant thinking I would major in accounting or some other business program. But after my literature and writing general education classes my first year, I knew I should major in LCS. As a junior, I realized I had enough credits to double major, so I decided to add a history major as my electives had been fascinating.

What are some key takeaways from your majors?

Some key takeaways are being able to see things through global perspectives and think creatively. Not often are we prompted to find new ways to express ourselves or delve into other cultures, but through these two majors I have been able to experience both!

Have you had any favorite classes or projects?

One of my favorite LCS classes so far has been Study of the Graphic Novel. I took the class last spring, and it was a great way to learn about alternative media and literature. I even got to make a comic on my own life.

One of my favorite projects was for my History of Modern Britain class. We had the entire semester to work on a subject of our choice, related to British history. I wrote an essay on Anne Boleyn, and it was one of the most captivating projects I have worked on.

Any favorite professors?

One of my favorites is Professor Jeffery Cabusao. After he inducted me into the English Honors Society, Sigma Tau Delta, I took one of his classes. I just completed his Ethnic Literature course, and he has definitely become a mentor of mine.

What do you hope to learn from your minor?

I chose marketing because I figured it would be an excellent way to refine my communication skills and learn more about research in a business capacity. With my specific major-minor combination, I hope to be a well-rounded professional who can appreciate both the logical and creative facets of life.

Bryant is often known for business. What would you say about the arts here?

While the business school is a large part of Bryant and its reputation, the university is doing a lot to expand the College of Arts and Sciences. The arts side of Bryant has great faculty and interesting events, and I’m looking forward to being a part of its continued evolution.

Do you have a career path in mind?

I do! As of right now, I want to go into publishing and editing.

How are you involved at Bryant?

I am a Division I athlete on the women’s track and field team, and I work at the Academic Center for Excellence as an office assistant.

Any favorite places on campus to hang out?

My favorite place is by the pond on a sunny day. I love relaxing in the Adirondack chairs or on a blanket with some snacks and a book. My friends and I also enjoy watching movies and playing games in our suite.

How would you describe the Bryant community?

It’s diverse, supportive, and tight-knit. There truly is something for everyone here, and the small population allows for close relationships to be made with faculty and peers alike.

Can you sum up your Bryant experience in a few words?

Exciting, meaningful, and transformative.

“I’ve been able to study business and liberal arts at the same time through the international business program and my concentration of marketing. I’ve learned about the different focuses of business, from management to finance and accounting, while also combining the history, culture, and foreign language aspects of international business.”
